Job Description

The Wooten Company, a multidisciplinary, employee-owned consulting firm providing engineering and architectural services, is currently seeking a Project Engineer for its Civil/Environmental Department in our Winston-Salem, NC regional office. The successful candidate will be a civil engineer with a strong background in successfully completing water, wastewater and/or stormwater projects for municipal/private clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Site grading including determining earthwork quantities and balancing

  • Roadway design

  • Erosion control construction plan design

  • Hydrologic/hydraulic analysis

  • Stormwater management plan design

  • Water distribution and sanitary sewer system studies

  • Water and sanitary sewer system utilities design including pump stations

  • Permitting, code research, and specification writing

  • Construction administration

  • Cost estimating

  • Interaction with project managers, clients, and regulatory permitting agencies

Qualifications and Experience:

  • B.S. Civil Engineering

  • NC Professional Engineer preferred (or ability to obtain within one year)

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in consulting engineering environment working on water, wastewater and/or stormwater projects required

  • Strong technical skills in design of water, wastewater and/or stormwater utilities required

  • Experience obtaining federal, state and local permits preferred

  • Strong verbal and writing skills required

  • Hydraulic modeling skills a plus

  • Proficiency using WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, and/or InfoWater/InfoWorks WS preferred

  • Proficiency using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD preferred

  • Working knowledge of GIS a plus

  • Some construction administration of municipal utility projects is preferred

  • Valid NC Driver’s License required
