Wakefield High School - Wake County Public School System
Focusing on energy sustainability and low life-cycle costs
Wakefield High School is a new 270,000 square foot high school in Wake Forest, NC; a complex building with 1, 2 and 3 story wings and interconnected areas. In addition to each wing and common area, toilet facilities were added to the school stadium at a later date as a part of the project. Our Building Systems Group provided complete engineering design services for the project, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, communications and life safety systems. With a focus on energy sustainability and low life-cycle costs, extra measures such as an Ice Storage System to take the place of one of two chillers were designed as energy saving alternatives. An extensive filter and dust collection system was also designed for use in the Cabinet Lab/Shop area.
