Project Manager

Our established and growing Civil Department is seeking a Project Manager for our Water Resources Practice in the Raleigh, NC office. The ideal candidate will have a civil/environmental water and/or wastewater resources or environmental engineering education/background having direct experience in linear water and wastewater engineering and management in all phases of projects from planning, design, and construction.

The Water Resources Practice works on a variety of projects mainly in the public sector for clients of varying size.  Typical projects include water and wastewater system analysis and evaluation, preliminary engineering studies, design of water transmission/distribution system components and wastewater collection system components.  This is an excellent career opportunity for a talented individual to join an established firm with outstanding professionals. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical and design services in support of water infrastructure projects (i.e., water distribution and wastewater collection/pumping). 

  • Conducting preliminary evaluations, preparing various reports, producing design drawings, preparing technical specifications, and preparing permit submittals for projects.

  • Managing bid negotiations for projects.

  • Directing, coordinating, and supervising activities of project personnel and team members to ensure project schedules and budgets.

  • Managing project tasks and coordinating work with team members.

  • Managing implementation of work plans, schedule and budget.

  • Maintaining client contact/relationships and effectively communicating on projects.

  • Attending client, public, and other project meetings.

  • Developing preliminary and final construction cost opinions for various projects.

Required Experience

  • B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering.  MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering preferred but not required.

  • NC PE registration or ability to quickly acquire NC PE through reciprocity.

  • 10 plus years of experience in water and wastewater engineering experience, including project management.

  • Experience with AutoCAD or Microstation and Hydraulic Modeling software.

  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Good presentation and public speaking skills.

  • Technically competent, a team player and good communication skills (both verbal and written) required.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to successfully pass background check.
