Campbell University's Barker-Lane Stadium
Improvements to stadium boost a football program returning from a hiatus
On Saturday September 7, 2013 a capacity crowd of more than 5,000 roaring fans flooded the stands of Campbell University’s completely overhauled Barker-Lane Stadium to cheer on their Fighting Camels in the team’s home opener. With a convincing 56-21 win over the University of Virginia-Wise Cavaliers, the celebration could not have gone any better.
The Wooten Company’s, Fred Rash, led the project team through the site design of the stadium’s overhaul, which added more than 3,000 seats and a two-story press box. Working with the University and the project’s architect, Little Diversified, Fred’s team designed site plans, utilities, parking for VIP guests and also water drainage improvements.
The overhaul of Barker-Lane Stadium was designed with the anticipation of additional improvements to house more than 10,000 fans in mind, as the school ramps up its football program that returned from a 50-year hiatus in 2008.
