We are currently seeking candidates for a Housing Rehabilitation Specialist in our Greenville, NC Regional Office. 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant practical and hands-on residential construction, rehabilitation and/or remodeling experience 
  • B.S. Degree in Construction Management or related field (preferred but not required)  
  • Lead based paint certification, Asbestos, Mold and/or Energy certifications such as BPI certification – Building Analyst or Building Envelope, and RESNET HERS Rater. PHRANC Certified Rehab Specialist a plus but not required

Qualifications and Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of, but not limited to, the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

  • Basic knowledge of all phases of housing rehabilitation
  • Knowledge of NC building codes
  • Basic understanding of building science
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel
  • Valid NC drivers license
  • Ability to travel throughout the state (limited overnight stays)
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position including, but not limited to, walking, stooping, climbing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting objects (exerting up to 50 pounds of force) from a lower to a higher position
  • Successful completion of a background check

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use business technologies to develop documents, spreadsheets, reports and grant applications
  • Conduct inspection of houses to determine feasibility of rehabilitation
  • Complete a check list of work to be completed for houses
  • Prepare plans, detailed rehab specifications, and cost estimates
  • Prepare bid packages, bid jobs, review and select successful bidders
  • Monitor contractor for adherence to budget and schedule
  • Interface with city and county building inspections staff
  • Work with Project Managers to ensure compliance with applicable-funded agency requirements
