Randleman's Deep River Greenway
A rich mill history and a connection between the river and community.
The City of Randleman's Deep River Nature Trail Master Plan was developed to design the trail system and ensure the preservation of this prized natural resource in Deep River. It will also tell the story of the rich mill history of the river and the community.
Completed in 2015, The Wooten Company developed a plan for the Town of Randleman that incorporated the Apple Road Park, the Upton Property, the River Bend Property, Beach Front, and Nature Center and Riverwalk along the west side of Deep River. The overall goal of the plan’s creation was to prepare the City for its application to the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) for support of the Phase 1 implementation. The plan outlined the public input process that elicited a strong desire for the Trail, as well as itemized community health and economic benefits. This process also made the case for funds to construct .25 miles of new trails on the City’s Worthville property. The goals for the system included improving connectivity to existing trails; optimizing the trails to function as conservation and enhancement tools for the floodplain, riparian and wildlife habitats, and; facilitating a multi-agency approach to new trail development.
