Cummins RMEP Wastewater Collection Improvements
Overhaul of water and sewer system elements
Cummins RMEP needed to abandon three manholes, a wastewater pump station, and a force main and screening system due to major deterioration of the structures. The company followed this with the construction of a new bypass manhole and gravity sewer (or rehabilitation of existing structures), a new pump station, new force main and a new wet well screening basket system prior to the existing aeration basins that will have secondary containment. The new pump station was designed to be more user friendly for the operator, and existing Tsurumi pumps were re-utilized in the new pump station structure to save costs. It was tied in at the existing motor control center for the wastewater treatment facilities and a provision for connection to the Building Management System was also added. Our teams specified a fiberglass wet well to limit the size of the equipment required to install since the site was very confined.
