Project Engineer – Water Resources

Our Water Resources Practice Group is seeking a team-focused, innovative Civil Engineer with strong technical experience to join our Civil Department in Raleigh, NC. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated civil engineer with a strong background in successfully completing water, wastewater and/or storm water projects for local governments/private clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Water distribution and sanitary sewer system studies

  • Water and sanitary sewer system utilities design

  • Hydrologic/hydraulic analysis

  • Site grading including determining earthwork quantities and balancing

  • Roadway design

  • Erosion control construction plan design

  • Permitting, code research, and specification writing

  • Construction administration

  • Cost estimating

  • Interaction with project managers, clients, and regulatory permitting agencies

Qualifications and Experience:

  • B.S. Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited program

  • NC-licensed Professional Engineer

  • 3-5 years’ PE experience in a consulting engineering environment working on water and wastewater projects

  • Technical skills in the planning and design of water, wastewater, grading and/or storm water utilities

  • Strong knowledge with federal, state and local agency regulations as related to municipal water and wastewater projects

  • Strong verbal and writing skills

  • Hydraulic modeling skills a plus

  • Proficiency using WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, and/or InfoWater/InfoWorks WS preferred

  • Proficiency using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD preferred

  • Working knowledge of GIS a plus

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs,

  • Some construction administration of municipal utility projects is preferred

  • Valid Driver’s License
