Gary Hartong, Greenville Branch Manager of The Wooten Company, was elected to the Greenville Community Shelter (GCS) Board of Directors for a five-year term earlier this month. The GCS provides supportive housing programs and emergency shelter services to the homeless and disabled in the Greater Greenville area. Offering more than meals and housing, the program strives to empower the homeless through prevention programs to make self-sufficiency possible.
In July of this year, The Wooten Company was awarded a contract to provide technical assistance to GCS, managing a $750,000 North Carolina Housing Finance Agency Supportive Housing Loan which will create the necessary financing to build a 15,000 square foot, 110 Bed Emergency Shelter in place of their current space, which can only accommodate 78 displaced individuals at any given time. In addition, the new space will be comprised of a separate female and male dormitory, as well as four separate family rooms to accommodate families with children. The functional area will also include a large dining hall, full kitchen and laundry areas.
GCS’ New 15,000 square foot, 110 Bed Emergency Shelter will increase the programs ability to help the homeless and disabled.
The Wooten Company is proud to support Gary Hartong and the Greenville Community Shelter in their advocacy to serve the poor, homeless and disabled.
