“This is a great day in Dobbins Heights,” said Town Clerk Mary Magee in front of an audience of nearly 50 people including Mayor Antonio Blue and other dignitaries on Thursday afternoon.
The cause of celebration was the groundbreaking of the new Community Center on Earle Franklin Drive, a project which has been on the table since 2007. With a great deal of determination, though, the Mayor and his team worked hard and found solutions to make the dream a reality. Utilizing a $500,000 Community Development Block Grantfrom the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the project is fully funded and construction is now officially underway.
The Wooten Company is happy to have been able to assist the Town in delivering the project to its residents, with the grant’s administrator, Patt Crissman, even having a moment in the spotlight with the local newspaper.
