Assistant to Project Engineer
The Wooten Company’s Columbia SC Regional Office is seeking a team-focused, innovative Assistant to Project Engineer to help grow our expanding office. The ideal candidate will have a civil or environmental engineering education/background having a strong interest in water and wastewater and street and or stormwater design projects, and have 3-5 years of experience in the industry.
Typical responsibilities would include:
Site grading and earthwork analysis and design.
Water supply and distribution analysis, studies and design.
Wastewater and storm water collection and treatment system analysis, studies and design.
Sedimentation and erosion control design.
Hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and modeling.
Permitting, code research, and specification writing.
Construction quantity takeoff and cost estimating.
Occasional fieldwork to observe/participate in utility system evaluations.
Daily interaction and occasional travel with project managers, clients, and regulatory permitting agencies.
Qualifications and Experience:
B.S. Civil or Environmental Engineering from ABET accredited program.
EI Certification with ability to obtain within PE within 1-2 years.
Technical skills in the planning and design of water, wastewater, grading, and/or stormwater utilities.
Strong verbal and writing skills.
Hydraulic modeling skills a plus.
Knowledge of federal, state and local agency regulations as related to municipal water and wastewater projects.
Some construction administration of municipal utility projects is preferred.
Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office programs.
Working knowledge of GIS, MicroStation and/or CADD software a plus.
Valid SC Driver’s License required.
Self-motivated, willingness to learn.
