Our Mission Statement: We will be the professional services firm of choice for client satisfaction, quality of service and technical expertise.
History
L.E. Wooten and Company, now dba The Wooten Company was formed on October 3, 1936 by Louis E. Wooten, a native of Edgecombe County in North Carolina. In 1951, Louis E. Wooten, Jr. joined the firm as Vice President. Under their watch, the firm secured contracts to design rural electric lines, water and sewer systems and most notably Carter Finley Stadium at North Carolina State University.
L.E. Wooten continued to come into the office on North Boylan Avenue in Raleigh until he was 99. After his semi-retirement in 1970, Clinton Galphin took the helm until 1980 when Willis Barlow became President. Mr. Barlow continued to lead the firm through successful times. Although the Wootens stepped down to allow others to lead their company, they remained active in its direction for years to come.
In 1986, Arthur L. "Buck" Kennedy became President. Under his watch, the firm added new divisions to include planning and architecture. The firm gained widespread recognition for its work in the public sector, particularly in water and wastewater design.
In 2005, Mr. Kennedy "passed the buck" to Amos L. "Bucky" Moore.
Today
Today we offer civil engineering, mechanical/electrical/plumbing engineering, planning, and architecture. In addition, we provide funding assistance for local government projects and pride ourselves on the fact that since the early 1990's, we have helped raise over a quarter of a billion dollars in grants for infrastructure improvements and community enhancements.
As only the firm's fifth President, Mr. Moore, assisted by Dan Boone, Steve Player, Bob Egan and Ralph Mobley, Jr. is leading the firm through a culture change which includes a more proactive approach to business development and client satisfaction. Mr. Kennedy, for example, dedicates 100% of his time to developing new business and ensuring satisfaction with existing clients. The Wooten Company is poised for growth and anxious about assisting the people of North Carolina as they deal with aging infrastructure in the face of tremendous growth. We are excited about helping to plan for strategic development, new schools and new infrastructure that come along with the type of growth North Carolina is experiencing and projected to experience in the near future. We look forward to providing the engineering, planning and architecture services needed to meet our impending challenges as a state that continues to receive national recognition as a great place to live, work and raise a family.
