Planning | Geospatial Services | Wastewater System Mapping
The project consisted of mapping of 116 miles of wastewater system pipelines with survey-grade GPSequipment. The geodatabase was designed for wastewater engineers to conduct modeling and analysis of the system and to serve as an asset management tool. The features mapped in the field included manholes, gravity pipes, force mains, lift stations, valves, and a wastewater treatment facility. Manhole condition assessments and smoke testing were performed during the mapping phase of the project and stored in the geodatabase. A photograph of each lift station and the interior of each manhole was taken and stored in the geodatabase as an attribute of the corresponding feature. As-builts, design drawings, and plats were referenced to guide the field mapping and to identify attributes of some buried features. Over 6,000 features and their attributes were captured by GPS survey and GIS mapping.
