This project involved preparation of an overall development plan for an 11-mile corridor along NC Highway 97 near Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The governing body was considering the extension of water and sewer along the NC 97 corridor to serve an intersection at Interstate 95. The objective of the plan was to provide orderly land use while considering economic development, transportation, and water quality issues associated with the development of the corridor. A site inventory and analysis was completed which led to the preparation of alternative development scenarios. A transportation forecast for the preferred alternative was provided. The final component of the plan included proposed development standards and modifications to the county's unified development ordinance.
