Master water and sewer plan for Wake County portion of RTP. Project involved master water and sewer facilities serving Kit Creek basin, including the Wake County portion of Research Triangle Park. The project involved working with Wake County, the Research Triangle Foundation, the Towns of Cary and Morrisville, Durham County, NC Department of Transportation, and the NCSU School of Design to coordinate provision of water and sewer facilities with park development plans, thoroughfare plans, and local planning objectives. The preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) was an integral portion of the project. The EIS addressed effects of urbanization of the Kit Creek basin on Jordan Lake, including potential for increased storm water flows, with particular attention to calculating increases in non-point sources loading of Nitrogen and Phosphorous. The project led to the design and construction of in excess of 25,000 linear feet or gravity sewer ranging from 42" diameter to 12" diameter, 15,000 linear feet of force main, 12-inch water line, and 6 mgd sewage pumping station to support the initial development of the Park.
