<< Previous ProjectNext Project >> Our firm prepared a study in the early 1990's for all of Sampson County, the largest county in North Carolina. The study addressed providing water to the County in at least 4 phases. Water and Sewer District I was formed to provide water service along the NC Highway 24 corridor from county line to county line. District II was subsequently formed and three separate (but contiguous) project areas were identified. The District II-Phase I project consisting of about 135 miles of line was placed in service in 1998 and 2000. The Phase I (Part 2) project consisting of 69 miles of 3" through 12" mains was placed in service in 2001. Construction of the District II-Phase II project consisted of 125 miles of 4" through 12" water transmission and distribution mains, an elevated storage tank and two (2) booster pumping stations. The District II-Phase III and IV projects involved the design, bidding, and construction of approximately 100+ miles of 4" through 12" water transmission and distribution mains and a 200,000-gallon elevated storage tank that serves approximately 950 customers. Overall, the Sampson County Water System consists of over 550 miles of transmission and distribution mains. The total investment by Sampson County was approximately $31 million of which approximately $15 million were grant funds. |
