The project consisted of renovations to the existing single story Graphics Building for the purpose of housing Campus Transportation Offices. Demolition work to remove the existing
boiler and chiller was performed as a separate project. Renovation work was done in two phases, to permit continued use of the facility.
Architectural renovations included the addition of new interior partitions, new windows, new ceiling and ceiling grid, new canopy, and five
new parking spaces.
The Wooten Company provided Engineering Design Services as follows:
- Demolition of the existing boiler and chiller and connection to the University's campus central hot and chilled water system.
- Provision of a fire protection sprinkler system throughout the building, including the loading dock area.
- Extensive renovation to the building plumbing system, including provision of new toilet fixtures.
- Provision of a complete new air conditioning system, including a variable volume air handling unit with terminal units to serve separate
areas in the new Transportation offices, and all related ductwork, piping and controls
- Provision of new air distribution diffusers and grilles connecting to existing ductwork, throughout the rest of the building
- New exhaust fans to serve building toilets and mechanical areas requiring ventilation
- New electric unit heaters, fan-coil units, wall grilles and fire dampers as necessary to complete the project and bring the building up to
Building Code standards
- New DDC controls for the building's existing air handlers (designed as a Bid Alternate)
- New lighting systems for both the interior and exterior of the building, including a new exit / emergency light system
- New fire alarm system throughout the building
- New telecommunications room and cable system to serve the entire building.
- New power sources, as necessary, to accommodate architectural renovations and new mechanical equipment.
