Raleigh, NC – Scott Almond, PE a mechanical engineer with The Wooten Company has received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Accredited Professional designation from the United States Green Building Council.


Almond and other accredited professionals at The Wooten Company can use the knowledge of the LEED certification process to assist developers, architects, and owners design and build their project to meet the program’s guidelines.

The LEED® Green Building Rating System™ is a nationally accepted set of standards for designing, constructing and operating high performance, green buildings. Projects developed and certified under the LEED standards qualify for tax rebates, zoning allowances, and other incentives in cities throughout the United States.


Almond is also a Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) which qualifies him to oversee the process of Building Commissioning. Still a relatively new field in the industry, commissioning is a process intended to smooth the building turnover process, realize energy savings; assure indoor air quality; improve system function, operation and maintenance; and increase thermal comfort.
